I know its been a really long time since I've added new items to the shop. Things have been slow so there hasn't been much motivation to add new items. This latest item is for my newest hobby, knitting! These are a set of 6 Swarovski crystal stitch markers. You can either have them with silver colored wire or anti-tarnish sterling silver (for $3 more). They should fit needles up to size 13. The needle in the picture is size 10 and the crystal color is A4PV.

It's been quiet and I've been spending more time with knitting and my girls being off for summer. I will have a couple of new items to put up. I'm waiting for our new camera to get here from Amazon.com. Our old one decided that 6 years was enough for it. It won't even close properly. Two of the new items were once exclusively at Hella Good but they have closed their doors. We also have 2 Bunnies Earrings (light blue) that came back from Hella Good. It's hard to believe that the business started today 4 years ago. It was hard to decide when exactly would be our birthday. Is it the day you apply for the business license? Is it the day you do your first show? Is it the day your web site is up and running? For me, it was my first "show". Really it was just a local market in the parking lot of a business that went out of business not even a year later. We were selling out of the back of our Tahoe. We quickly learned that sterling silver jewelry and the hot Arizona weather don't mix. We are now sell only online. Here is a picture of that first day 4 years ago:

We got new post cards because 1) we were finally through the 5000 we ordered last time, 2) none of the pictured items on the post card are for sale any more on our site 3) we have a new web site and post cards need to match! The new post card is pictured below:

Holiday Oatmeal Cookies

Holiday Oatmeal Cookies
Prep: 40 min
Bake: about 13 min
Makes: about 4 dozen
1 ½ C all-purpose flour
1 t baking soda
½ t salt
1 C butter or margarine (2 sticks) softened
¾ C packed brown sugar
½ C granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 t vanilla extract
3 C old-fashioned oats, uncooked
1 C raisins
1 package (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (1 C)

1. Preheat over to 350˚F. On waxed paper, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
In a large bowl, with mixer on medium speed, beat butter and brown and granulated sugars until creamy, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Beat in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low; gradually beat in flour mixture just until blended, occasionally scraping bowl. With spoon, stir in oats, raisins and chocolate chips.

2. Drop dough by heaping measuring tablespoons, 2 inches apart, on ungreased large cookie sheet. Bake cookies 13 – 15 minutes or until tops are golden. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool.

3. Repeat with remaining dough. Store cookies in tightly covered containers at room temperature up to 1 week or in freezer up to 3 months.

About 115 calories per cookie

Can I Trust You?

I know that shopping online can be hard. Who do you trust? I got an email once where someone was checking to see if I was a "real" business. My reply was that even a "fake" business would answer their email. So how can you check to see if a business is legit?

1. See how long they have been in business. You should be able to find some where on their site how long they have been in business. We have been around since 2005. I finally added that info to the home page of the site.

2. Check to see if they have a blog and when it was started. My blog started in 2005 so it matches when I say I started the business.

3. Do they have regular postings on their blog? I try to be regularly posting here.

4. Check their press page. Do they have regular press features? Again here is another place to see if they have been around as long as they say. Here is a good place because press is another organization so it wouldn't something a "fake" business could put up.

5. Check to see if they have customer comments and how many comments do they have? Again this is a place where you might be able to see how long they have been around (if they put dates next to their comment, we don't).

6. Do they have an address or mailing address? Do they have a phone number? You can google the address or phone number. You can even give a call. We don't answer the phone (due to all the telemarketing calls but if you leave a message, I will promise to call you back!) but you can leave us a message.

We usually try to ship within one or two business days. Usually if the order comes in overnight or before 5PM, we will try to ship it the next day. If the item is not in stock, it will take at least 1 business day to process and make the item. The Yuzen Pendants and Earrings will take at least 2 business days before they will ship. They are very time consuming items. Please keep shipping times in mind when you order!

One of my lines is called Experiments. What is this? This is where I put products that don't really fit into the other lines (Asian, Key, Handcuff or Simple). It's also where I will put some season items. It's basically where I will put some of my experiments!

I did it myself with some help of a color code from my web person. I don't think I have all the text white. It was a matter of just paying around with the template. I figured out that the color code for the white was "fff". I just went around where I could see a color code and plug in "fff" and then preview the template. This is a preview of the new site which I'm hoping will be up next week.

We will no longer have on the site details about custom work. I will post the details here but you will have to email us for pictures of the different material choices.

Custom work may not returned or exchanged.
Discount codes do not apply to custom pieces.
A deposit of 50% is required (25% is non-refundable).

We do custom earrings, pendants and necklaces. Prices are starting $15 for earrings, starting $20 for pendants and starting $35 for custom necklace prices.

I decided to add a sold gallery to the new site. We are carrying more and more limited edition items and this will allow us to show you products we have sold that were limited editions without cluttering the products that are available.

New Cart and Web Site Features

The new web site (up sometime this month) will have items divided into 4 lines and then your usual jewelry categories (earrings, necklaces and pendants). Gone will be the chains, others (pins), paper goods, bookmarkers, gift certificates and custom work. We never did sell a gift certificate with the present site (up since 2006)! We also didn't get much interest in custom work.

The new cart will:

1. charge shipping based on weight (rather than price)
2. not require you to create an account
3. allow you to pay with PayPal (something we lost in July with our present cart)
4. allow us to ask if you wish to have items in one box or more
5. allow us to ask if you want the item gift wrapped
6. allow us to find out how you found us
7. allow us to get a gift card message
8. allow you to track your package with a link to USPS in your message
9. allow us to show you how many items are in stock and in what color or etc
